Suicide is a very heavy topic. It is one that we often avoid because it is dark and can leave many of us in fear and confusion on how to respond when a loved one is struggling or if we have had our own thoughts of death.

I had the honor of connecting with Christopher Howard, host of the Coffee Over Suicide podcast who graciously shared with us his own story of suicidal idealization starting as early as five years old. He grew up feeling very isolated and said that even as a young child he had this sense that “life was painful” and that he “was wrong.”

Now as a grown man, he has different tools for coping and new ways to look at his mental health struggles. He shares with us the importance of taking ownership of our mental health illnesses and how we can take the responsibility of recovery away from pill and treatment and put it back into our own hands.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicidal thoughts please know that you are not alone. Below are resources and hotlines that are available to you. Although the pain is real , there is hope. We would also love to be a support. Please find us in our private Facebook group Hope to Recharge because as always …together is better.
